170Msps TO 250Msps, 10-BIT HIGH-SPEED ADCs ARE OPTIMIZED FOR HIGH-IF SAMPLING

SUNNYVALE, CA-March 19, 2004-Maxim Integrated Products (NASDAQ: MXIM) introduces the MAX1122/MAX1123/MAX1124 family of high-speed analog-to-digital converters (ADCs). This new ADC family delivers exceptional dynamic performance at high input frequencies. While consuming the industry's lowest power, these products offer unmatched dynamic performance, including signal-to-noise ratio (SNR), spurious-free dynamic range (SFDR), and intermodulation distortion (IMD).

The MAX1123 delivers an exceptional SNR of 57.5dB that remains flat (within 1.5dB) up to an input frequency of 500MHz. This superior dynamic performance is even more remarkable given the low power consumption of 495mW at a sample rate of 250Msps, an industry first.

The combination of high-IF dynamic performance and high sample rate allow the user to select receiver architectures that can sample large bandwidths, while eliminating intermediate RF downconversion stages. This reduces system cost and complexity, and saves board-space requirements.

The MAX1122/MAX1123/MAX1124 are ideal for applications such as cable and cellular infrastructure, broadband communication systems, and high-performance video equipment. These devices are in production and available in a space-saving, 68-pin QFN-EP package specified for the industrial temperature range (-40°C to +85°C). A pin-compatible, 8-bit 250Msps ADC (MAX1121) is currently sampling. An evaluation kit is available to speed designs. Pricing for this 10-bit ADC family starts at $36.85 (1000-up, FOB USA).
