INDUSTRY'S SMALLEST ±1°C ACCURATE, LOCAL/DUAL REMOTE TEMP SENSOR IN A µMAX PACKAGE

SUNNYVALE, CA-February 19, 2004-Maxim Integrated Products (NASDAQ: MXIM) introduces the MAX6695, the industry's smallest 3-channel digital temperature sensor that accurately measures the temperature of two remote diodes within ±1°C and its own die to within ±2°C. This device has three alarm outputs and operates through an SMBus-compatible interface. Packaged in a 10-pin µMAX, the MAX6695 is 50% smaller than other competing devices and is ideal for notebook and desktop computers.

To enhance system reliability, the MAX6695 includes an SMBus timeout. The three alarm outputs are fully programmable, allowing complete configuration of the ALERT-bar, OT1-bar, and OT2-bar outputs.

The SMBus interface for the MAX6695 accepts standard system-management Write Byte, Read Byte, Send Byte, and Receive Byte commands to read the temperature data and to program the alarms threshold. The resolution is 11 bit, with each LSB corresponding to 0.125°C. Measurements can be done autonomously with the conversion rate programmed by the user (0.0625Hz to 4Hz) or in a single-shot mode.

The MAX6695 has a 3V to 3.6V supply range and operates over a temperature range of -45°C to +125°C with performance optimized from +60°C to +100°C. Prices start at $2.20 (1000-up, FOB USA).

SMBus is a trademark of Intel Corporation.
