LOW-COST, 3-PIN SILICON OSCILLATOR IS RESISTANT TO EMI, VIBRATION, AND HUMIDITY; REPLACES CRYSTALS AND CERAMIC RESONATORS
SUNNYVALE, CA-December 11, 2003-Maxim Integrated Products
(NASDAQ: MXIM) introduces the MAX7375 silicon oscillator. Available in space-saving 3-pin SC70 and SOT23 packages, this device is an integrated oscillator with fixed frequencies that requires no additional components for setting or adjusting the frequency. With a fast 5µs startup time, the oscillator frequency is generated directly without use of a phase-locked loop (PLL).
The MAX7375 replaces ceramic resonators, crystals, and crystal oscillator modules as the clock source for microcontrollers and UARTs. Unlike crystal and ceramic resonator circuits, this device resists vibration and EMI under both manufacturing and operating conditions. High-output drive current (±10mA) and the absence of high-impedance nodes make the MAX7375 resistant to dirty or humid operating conditions.
The MAX7375 is guaranteed for operation over the -55°C to +135°C temperature range and is specified over the automotive temperature range (-40°C to +125°C). Initial accuracy is 2% (max) and temperature performance is 50ppm/°C (typ) and 325ppm/°C (max). At a supply voltage of just 2.7V, the supply current is just 1mA for the 8MHz frequency device.
Prices start at $0.72 (10,000-up, FOB USA).
