6W, CLASS-D AMPLIFIERS ARE IDEAL FOR FLAT-PANEL TV AND PC DISPLAY APPLICATIONS
SUNNYVALE, CA-November 18, 2003-Maxim Integrated Products
(NASDAQ: MXIM) introduces the MAX9713/MAX9714 mono and stereo highly efficient, class-D audio amplifiers. High-efficiency operation (85%) eliminates the need for bulky, expensive heatsinks commonly required with linear audio amplifiers, making these amplifiers ideal for thin-profile applications such as flat-panel TVs and PC displays. The MAX9713/MAX9714 offer 0.04% THD+N, high 76dB at 1kHz PSRR, and industry-leading click-and-pop performance levels. These amps employ a patented modulation scheme that reduces EMI emissions by 5dB over conventional class-D amplifiers, thus simplifying the task of meeting EMI test levels. These many capabilities result in a low-cost, compact, highly efficient audio amplifier requiring very few external components.
The MAX9713/MAX9714 operate over a 10V to 25V supply and can provide up to 6W per channel into an 8 load. Differential inputs and four selectable-gain options (+13dB, +16.1dB, +19.1dB, and +22.1dB) let the user optimize the signal-to-noise ratio under different load and input level conditions. Four flexible clocking options provide control of the noise spectrum for a given application.
The mono MAX9713 is available in a 32-pin QFN (5mm x 5mm x 0.8mm) package, and the stereo MAX9714 is available in a 32-pin QFN (7mm x 7mm x 0.8mm) package. These devices are specified for operation over the
-40°C to +85°C temperature range. Prices for the MAX9713ETJ starts at $1.60 and $2.00 for the MAX9714ETJ (100,000-up, FOB USA).
