(NASDAQ: MXIM) introduces the MAX3941 10.7Gbps electro-absorption modulator (EAM) driver with integrated bias T. Operating from a single -5.2V or +5.0V supply, the MAX3941 consumes only 124mA of current. It has a 23ps edge speed with a programmable modulation voltage up to 3V and programmable bias voltage up to 1.25V into 50Ω. This device operates with a selectable retiming latch to minimize jitter accumulations in the transmit path. To reduce external component count, the MAX3941 has integrated 50Ω of termination at the input and 50Ω of back termination at the output. A polarity control is also integrated to ensure an easy interface to any serializer.
The MAX3941 is designed for SONET OC192/SDH STM64 systems, in addition to metro, long-haul, point-to-point, and DWDM applications. This device operates from -40°C to +85°C and is packaged in a 4mm x 4mm, 24-pin thin QFN. Prices start at $59.00 (1000-up, FOB USA).
