SOT23 CHARGE PUMP DELIVERS 60mA OUTPUT CURRENT

SUNNYVALE, CA-July 30, 1999-Maxim Integrated Products introduces the MAX1697 CMOS charge-pump inverter in an ultra-small SOT23 package. This device sets a new performance standard for this package size, as it provides a guaranteed output current of 60mA (compared with only 25mA for older parts).

Oscillator control circuitry and four power MOSFET switches are included on-chip. The MAX1697 is available in models with different switching frequencies (12kHz, 35kHz, 125kHz, or 250kHz) to allow the designer to trade off lowest quiescent current (150µA at 12kHz) versus the smallest external capacitors (0.47µF at 250kHz). All devices operate from an input voltage from +1.5V up to +5.5V. Output impedance is a low 12 ohms.

Other features include slew-rate-limited switching to reduce EMI, start-up current limiting to reduce inrush currents, and a logic-level shutdown pin that cuts supply current to only 0.1µA. This device is ideal for generating negative voltages in small, portable, battery-operated equipment for GaAsFET biasing, LCD supplies and negative supplies for analog measurements, etc.

The MAX1697_EUT comes in a 6-pin SOT23 package and is screened for the extended-industrial temperature range (-40°C to +85°C). Prices start from $0.99 (1000-up, FOB USA).
