LOW-SKEW DRIVER/REPEATER FROM MAXIM IDEAL FOR DATA AND CLOCK DISTRIBUTION IN JITTER-SENSITIVE SYSTEMS

 
 

SUNNYVALE, CA-November 11, 2002-Maxim Integrated Products (NASDAQ: MXIM) introduces the MAX9316A low-skew differential LVPECL/LVECL/HSTL 1:5 driver/repeater designed for clock and data distribution in automatic test equipment, central office switches, networking switches and routers, and SONET/SDH communication applications where low pin-to-pin skew and precision signal and clock distribution are critical. The MAX9316A is specified for a minimum switching frequency of 1.5GHz and has ultra-low added random jitter of 1.2ps (RMS) (max), making it ideal for data and clock distribution in jitter-sensitive systems.

The MAX9316A allows selection between two inputs, differential or single ended, and repeats the signal at five identical LVPECL/LVECL outputs.

The MAX9316A operates from 3.0V to 5.5V in a PECL system and -3.0V to -5.5V in ECL systems, and is specified for the extended temperature range of -40°C to +85°C.

The MAX9316A is pin compatible with MC100EL14 and is available in a 20-pin SO. Refer to the MAX9315 and MAX9316 data sheets for 1:5 clock drivers with a 2.5V and 3.3V operating supply range, respectively.
