MAXIM'S LOW-POWER, SOT23 µP RESET WITH CAPACITOR-ADJUSTABLE TIMEOUT PROVIDES GREATER DESIGN FLEXIBILITY

SUNNYVALE, CA-November 19, 2002-Maxim Integrated Products (NASDAQ: MXIM) introduces the MAX6340 microprocessor (µP) supervisory circuit. Designed to monitor supply rails of 1.8V to 5V in µP and digital systems, this small device consumes only 1.7µA of supply current, making it ideal for portable applications.

Whenever monitored voltage falls below the reset threshold, the MAX6340's reset output asserts and stays asserted for a minimum reset timeout period after VCC rises above the reset threshold. The reset timeout can be adjusted with an external capacitor to meet all processor timing requirements. Thirty-five factory-trimmed reset thresholds are available from 1.575V to 5V in approximately 100mV increments.

This device is available with an active-low, open-drain output. The MAX6340, a pin-compatible replacement to the LP3470, is available in a 5-pin SOT23 package and fully specified from -40°C to +125°C. Prices start at $0.91 (2,500 or 10,000 minimum, FOB USA).
