µP SUPERVISORS FROM MAXIM FEATURE ONE-SHOT, EDGE-TRIGGERED MANUAL RESET
Note to Editor: The MAX6467/MAX6468 are µP supervisors that monitor 1.8V to 5V systems and feature a one-shot, edge-triggered manual reset input. If the manual reset input is held indefinitely, the manual reset input still causes the reset output to time out. This allows the processor to refresh volatile memory, thus preventing data loss.
SUNNYVALE, CA-September 5, 2002-Maxim Integrated Products
(NASDAQ: MXIM) introduces the MAX6467/MAX6468 microprocessor (µP) supervisory circuits with a one-shot, edge-triggered manual reset input. Designed to monitor 1.8V to 5V supply rails in µP and digital systems, these tiny SOT143 and SC70 devices consume only 3µA, making them perfect for portable applications.
Whenever a monitored voltage falls below the reset threshold, the reset output asserts and stays asserted for a minimum reset timeout period after VCC rises above the reset threshold. Reset thresholds are available from 1.58V to 4.63V in approximately 100mV increments. Timeout options of 150ms or 1200ms are available for the VCC reset timeout.
The device can also reset the processor by asserting the manual reset input. The edge-triggered manual reset input asserts a reset on the falling edge and de-asserts after the manual reset timeout (150ms min) is completed. When the manual reset input is asserted, it ignores the state of the reset input and allows the reset output to deassert after the timeout period. This allows the processor to refresh volatile memory and prevent data loss.
These devices are available with two reset output options. The MAX6467 features an active-low, open-drain output, while the MAX6468 has an active-low, push-pull output. Both devices are available in 4-pin SC70 or SOT143 packages and are fully specified from -40°C to +125°C. Prices start at $0.96 (2,500 or 10,000-piece minimum, FOB USA).
