PRECISION SERIES VOLTAGE REFERENCE FITS IN SC70

Note to Editor: This device is the industry's first series voltage reference in SC70. None of the other three major voltage reference manufacturers (National Semiconductor, Linear Technologies, and Analog Devices) has a series voltage reference smaller than SOT23.
SUNNYVALE, CA-May 28, 2002-Maxim Integrated Products introduces the MAX6034, the industry's first precision series voltage reference in the tiny 2mm x 2mm surface-mount SC70 package (50% smaller than SOT23). It was designed to suit space-limited applications such as PDAs, cellular phones, portable medical monitoring devices, and small form factor optical transponder modules. Unlike conventional shunt references that require an external resistor and waste supply current, the MAX6034 series reference offers supply current that is virtually independent of supply voltage (16µA/V). Initial accuracy is a low 0.2% (max) with a guaranteed 30ppm/°C (max) drift over temperature. Input supply current consumption for the MAX6034 is typically 90µA and it can accept supply voltages up to 5.5V. A low 200mV dropout allows for extended operating time in battery-supplied devices. The MAX6034's output can source up to 1mA and is stable for capacitive loads of 0 to 1µF with no external capacitor required. Five precision output voltages are available: 2.048V, 2.5V, 3V, 3.3V, and 4.096V.

Prices for the MAX6034 start at $0.55 (1000-up, FOB USA, B grade).
