TRI-MODE LNA/MIXERS WITH ULTRA-LOW NOISE FIGURE AND SUPPLY CURRENT

SUNNYVALE, CA-May 21, 2002-Maxim Integrated Products introduces the MAX2351/MAX2358 tri-mode front-end LNA/downconverters. They are designed for dual-band tri-mode cdmaOne and cdma2000 cellular phones, as well as TDMA/GSM/GPRS/EDGE. The devices support dual-band operation in various bands. The MAX2351/MAX2358 feature ultra-low current consumption, low noise figure, and require few external components. Ultra-high IIP3 provides better sensitivity and allows the use of, or eliminates the need for lower-cost front-end filters. They are available in a new thin 5mm x 5mm 28-pin QFN package.

The MAX2351/MAX2358 contain a dual band-CDMA LNA/ downconverter with FM mode, consisting of a multiple gain stage, high-linearity LNA, and a low-noise downconverter, along with an LO buffer to drive the transmit upconverter. The average supply current in CDMA mode is 8mA. The combined noise figure is 1.6dB in cellular CDMA mode and 1.7dB in PCS CDMA mode. To reduce the number of external components, most RF ports have on-chip 50Ω matching.

The MAX2351 has dual-band CDMA paths and an on-chip LO doubler for use with a cellular band VCO module. The MAX2358 has dual-band CDMA paths and an on-chip LO Divider for use with a PCS band VCO module.

The MAX2351/MAX2358 come in a new .8mm high, 5mm x 5mm 28-pin QFN package with an exposed pad. Prices start at $2.85 (1000—up, FOB USA).

cdma2000 is a trademark of Telecommunication Industry Association.
