DUAL HOT-SWAP CONTROLLER FOR +1V TO +13.2V RAILS
SUNNYVALE, CA-December 4, 2001-Maxim Integrated Products introduces the MAX5904MAX5909 family of low-voltage dual hot-swap controllers. The MAX5904MAX5909 allow the safe insertion and removal of circuit line cards with multiple supplies from a live backplane. Rated for systems with +1V to +13.2V supplies, the devices limit the inrush current to the load and provide protection against overcurrent conditions and load transients.
The MAX5904MAX5909 family of hot-swap controllers is available with a variety of features to simplify design and reduce external component count. The devices low 25mV circuit breaker threshold is well-suited for low-voltage supplies. The MAX5904MAX5909 include a VariableSpeed/Bilevel circuit-breaker response feature that protects against overcurrent conditions and prevents nuisance faults caused by noise and load transients. After a fault condition, the device provides latched or autoretry fault management.
All devices include an ON/OFF pin for power-supply sequencing, undervoltage lockout, and power-good status output. The MAX5906MAX5909 are full-featured devices with adjustable turn-on time, adjustable circuit-breaker threshold, and output undervoltage/overvoltage protection.
The MAX5904/MAX5905 are available in an 8-pin SO and the MAX5906MAX5909 are available in a 16-pin QSOP. The devices operate in the extended temperature range (-40°C to +85°C).
