LOW-POWER, HOT-SWAP RS-485/RS-422 UPGRADES TO THE INDUSTRY-STANDARD 75174, 34C87, AND 26LS31
SUNNYVALE, CA-September 27, 2001-Maxim Integrated Products introduces the MAX3040MAX3045 quad RS-422/RS-485 transmitters. These devices are optimized for parallel data transmission in telecom applications, and are pin-compatible upgrades to the industry-standard 75174, 34C87, and 26LS31 products. The hot-swap feature on the MAX3040-MAX3045 allows live insertion of the device without erroneous data transfer. To avoid interrupting the data stream on the bus, the transmitters are guaranteed to be in a high-impedance state while hot insertion is taking place.
The MAX3040MAX3045 operate from a single +5V supply and feature a 2nA shutdown mode. The MAX3042/MAX3045 are optimized for data rates up to 20Mbps. The MAX3041/MAX3044 can operate at data rates up to 2.5Mbps, and the MAX3040/MAX3043 can operate up to 250kbps. The MAX3040/MAX3041/MAX3043/MAX3044 feature slew-rate limiting to minimize EMI emissions and reduce reflections, allowing error-free data transmission. All transmitter output pins are protected to ±10kV per the Human Body Model, providing extra protection for ESD-sensitive devices. Operating supply current is only 1mA.
The MAX3040MAX3045 are available in the commercial and extended temperature ranges in a 16-pin narrow SO, 16-pin wide SO, and a space-saving 16-pin TSSOP, with prices starting at $1.04 (1000-up, FOB USA).
