12-BIT, 2 x 4 CHANNEL SIMULTANEOUS SAMPLING, PARALLEL I/O ADCS
SUNNYVALE, CA-March 20, 2001-Maxim Integrated Products introduces the MAX115/MAX116 parallel-interface, 400ksps, 12-bit ADC with four channels of simultaneous sampling and guaranteed no missing codes. This family of 12-bit ADCs features a ±2.5V or ±5V input range, a +2.5V internal reference, and an internal oscillator, making them well suited for applications requiring synchronous sampling such as motor control and power-monitoring applications.
The MAX115/MAX116 feature four track/holds with a two-channel multiplexer on each analog input. This allows one motor and up to six auxiliary inputs (for position, temperature, etc.) to be monitored, or two three-phase motors and up to four additional inputs. Each input is fault-protected to ±17V; a fault on any channel will not damage the device. An on-board programmable microsequencer allows from one to four channels to be converted. The conversion results are sequentially stored in the 4x12-bit on-chip memory until accessed by the user. Other features include a programmable low-power mode and a 12-bit parallel interface that comprises an end-of-conversion signal for interrupt-driven processors.
Packaged in a 36-pin SSOP, both devices are powered from ±5V supplies and offered in commercial (0°C to +70°C) and extended (-40°C to +85°C) temperature ranges. Prices start at $7.95 for the -40°C to +85°C temperature-range devices (1000-up, FOB USA).
