NEW PIN-TO-PIN COMPATIBLE COMPARATOR OFFERS IMPROVED PERFORMANCE OVER LMV331
SUNNYVALE, CA-February 19, 2001-Maxim Integrated Products introduces its new LMX331 single comparator, which provides better performance over the LMV331 comparator series currently being offered by National Semiconductor and Texas Instruments. Advantages offered by the LMX331 comparator include an extended +1.8V to +5.5V operating voltage range, nearly 40% beyond the competition’s +2.7V to +5.0V range. The LMX331 is also guaranteed to operate at higher temperatures, reaching +125°C, a 30% improvement. The 100ns propagation delay of the LMX331 is also 70% better than the 350ns rating for the LMV331 comparator yet maintains the same 100µA supply current as the competition. These significant parametric improvements will simplify industrial or automotive designs using single-cell lithium batteries in harsh environmental applications.
In addition to the LMX331 comparator, the introduction of the LMX331H single comparator extends the family’s performance improvements by offering internal hysteresis, 2mV, further reducing resistor component count, cost, and board space while preventing erroneous output transitions in the system.
The single comparators, LMX331 and LMX331H, are offered in the space-saving 5-pin SC70 and 5-pin SOT23 packages. Prices start at $0.26 (1000-up, FOB USA).
