NANOPOWER, +1.8V COMPARATORS PLUS REFERENCE PACKED INTO A TINY SC70-5
SUNNYVALE, CA-February 13, 2001-Maxim Integrated Products introduces the MAX9117-MAX9120 family of nanopower comparators guaranteed to operate from a single supply down to +1.8V while consuming a stingy 380nA. The MAX9117/MAX9118 have an additional 1.245V ±1.5% voltage reference and still draw only 750nA of supply current. The combination of nanopower, operation from two cells, rail-to-rail I/O, and small footprint makes these devices ideal for battery monitoring/management applications in portable products.
All four devices come in ultra-small 5-pin SC70 packages (1/2 the footprint of SOT23), have Beyond-the-Rails inputs, and rail-to-rail outputs. The unique design of the output stage limits supply-current surges while switching. This proprietary architecture virtually eliminates supply current glitches typical of many other comparators and maintains low overall power consumption under dynamic conditions. The MAX9117/MAX9119 have a push-pull output stage that sinks and sources current. In contrast, the MAX9118/MAX9120 have an open-drain output stage that can be pulled beyond VCC, making them suitable for mixed-voltage designs.
The MAX9117-MAX9120 are offered in space-saving 5-pin SC70 packages. Prices start at $0.47 (1000-up, direct USA).
