µP SUPERVISORY CIRCUITS WITH WINDOWED WATCHDOG TIMER PROVIDE HIGHEST LEVEL OF SYSTEM RELIABILITY

SUNNYVALE, CA-December 6, 2000-Maxim Integrated Products introduces the MAX6323/MAX6324 microprocessor (µP) supervisory circuits designed to monitor supply rails of +2.5V to +5V in µP and digital systems. Whenever the system voltage falls below the reset threshold, the reset output asserts and remains asserted for at least 100ms after the supply voltage rises above the reset threshold. Six preset threshold options of +4.63V, +4.38V, +3.08V, +2.93V, +2.63V, and +2.32V are available. The reset output is available with either an active-low, push-pull output (MAX6323) or an active-low, open-drain output (MAX6324).

In addition, the MAX6323/MAX6324 include a windowed watchdog timer that monitors system activity and notifies the µP when code execution errors occur. When consecutive falling edges into the watchdog input are either too fast or too slow, the open-drain, active-low watchdog output asserts a pulse for 1ms to notify the processor. Eight factory-trimmed timing combinations are available to provide flexibility to meet all µP timing specifications.

A manual reset input feature is also offered in these small, low-power (23µA) circuits available in 6-pin SOT23 packages. Prices start at $1.50 (2500 or 10,000 minimum, FOB USA).
