CLICKLESS/POPLESS STEREO HEADPHONE DRIVERS ACHIEVE >90dB PSRR AT F = 22kHz

SUNNYVALE, CA—August 17, 2000—Maxim Integrated Products introduces the MAX4298 audio speaker/headphone driver amplifiers specifically designed for use in a harsh environment where board space is at a premium and the digital supply is noisy. This stereo speaker driver uses patented design techniques to achieve ultra-high power-supply rejection ratio (PSRR) across the audio signal band, while delivering high-current rail-to-rail output drive. This audio driver is designed to drive highly capacitive loads that may be encountered when driving long cables to a remote load such as desktop speakers or notebook headphones. The MAX4298 is fully compliant to PC’99 standards.

The MAX4298 is capable of achieving greater than 90dB PSRR at 22kHz and driving a 1.5VRMS signal into a 10-kilohm load with 0.0008% distortion (THD+N) or 1.2VRMS into 32-ohm headphones with only 0.02% distortion. The MAX4298 operates from a single +4.5V to +5.5V supply and is available in the tiny 10-pin µMAX (MSOP) package. In addition, this audio driver features the industry’s best clickless/popless power-up, power-down, mute, and unmute functionality.

The stereo MAX4298 is available in space-saving 10-pin µMAX and 14-pin SOIC packages. Prices start from $0.85 (1000-up, FOB USA).
