DUAL, UNIVERSAL, SWITCHED-CAPACITOR FILTERS SAVE SPACE AND POWER

SUNNYVALE, CA—July 20, 2000—Maxim Integrated Products introduces its newest filters, the MAX7490 and MAX7491. These devices deliver two second-order switched-capacitor building blocks in a 16-pin QSOP. Both filter blocks are capable of generating all second-order functions: bandpass, lowpass, highpass, notch (band-reject), complex zeros, and allpass functions. Three of these functions are available simultaneously. The excellent accuracy and stability of the MAX7490/MAX7491 eliminates the complex, costly tuning normally required in high-order filter production.

These filters operate from a single supply of +5V (MAX7490) or +2.7V (MAX7491) and deliver rail-to-rail performance (within 0.2V of the supply rails) while consuming only 3.5mA. When in shutdown, quiescent current drops to 0.2µA. Center frequencies are clock-tunable from 1Hz to 30kHz, with a clock-to-corner ratio of 100:1. Two clocking options are available: self-clocking (through the use of an external capacitor) or external clocking for tighter center frequency control. The double sampling architecture of the MAX7490/MAX7491 places the sampling-to-corner frequency ratio at 200:1.

The MAX7490 and MAX7491 are available in a 16-pin QSOP in both the commercial (0°C to +70°C) and extended-industrial (-40°C to +85°C) temperature ranges. Prices start from $2.15 (1,000-up, FOB USA).
