MAX3080E–MAX3089E RS-485 TRUE FAIL-SAFE TRANSCEIVERS WITH ±15kV ESD PROTECTION
SUNNYVALE, CA–June 21, 2000–Maxim Integrated Products introduces the MAX3080E–MAX3089E RS-485 transceivers with true fail-safe receivers and ±15kV ESD protection. The true fail-safe receivers guarantee a logic high output when the input is open or shorted. All receivers will output a logic high if all transmitters on a terminated bus are disabled, eliminating the need to externally bias the bus using external components. These devices withstand ±15kV ESD events per Human Body Model, providing added protection to the RS-485 port.
The MAX3080E–MAX3089E operate from a single +5V supply and feature a 1nA shutdown mode (except MAX3081/MAX3084/MAX3087). All devices have a 1/8 unit load input impedance that allows up to 256 transceivers on the bus. This family of devices offers a variety of features, including half/full-duplex operation, 10Mbps data rate, slew rate limiting to reduce EMI and reflections, and receiver/driver enable.
The MAX3080E–MAX3089E are available in the commercial and extended temperature ranges in an industry-standard (75176, 75179, 75180) SO and DIP pinout, with prices starting at $1.31 (1000-up pricing, FOB USA).
