Tiny, 1A/500mA LDO regulators operate from 1.425V to 3.6V and dissipate up to 1.9W at +70°C
SUNNYVALE, CA—July 6, 2009—Maxim Integrated Products (NASDAQ: MXIM) introduces the MAX15027–MAX15030 low-dropout (LDO) linear regulators that operate from a 1.425V to 3.6V input voltage and deliver up to 1A (MAX15027/MAX15028) or 500mA (MAX15029/MAX15030) of output current. In addition, the MAX15028/MAX15030 feature a bias input that allows the devices to be powered from an independent supply, making them suitable for always-on power supplies in automotive applications. The bias input allows the regulator's input to reduce current to a mere 2µA (max) during shutdown. This family of power-saving LDO regulators can dissipate up to 1.9W at +70°C and is ideal for a wide array of applications, including networking, storage, server, and telecom equipment.
The MAX15027–MAX15030 offer outstanding performance with ±2% accuracy over line, load, and temperature, as well as a dropout voltage as low as 75mV (MAX15027/MAX15028) or 40mV (MAX15029/MAX15030) under a full load. Other features include a capacitor-adjustable soft-start input, an enable input, and an adjustable feedback input to set the output voltage from 0.5V to 3.3V.
These regulators are offered in a small, 3mm x 3mm, thermally enhanced, 10-pin TDFN package and are fully specified over the -40°C to +125°C automotive temperature range. Prices start at $0.90 (1000-up, FOB USA).
