MINIATURE VCOs FOR 45MHz TO 650MHz APPLICATIONS

SUNNYVALE, CA—May 16, 2000—Maxim Integrated Products introduces the MAX2605–MAX2609 family of miniature VCOs. They are designed for IF and RF applications such as cellular phones, wireless LANs, cordless phones, and other equipment requiring a fixed oscillator frequency between 45MHz and 650MHz.

Unlike discrete designs, which use up to 15 components and require long design times, the MAX2605–MAX2609 are much simpler to use and require only one external inductor to set the oscillation frequency. Varactors, core transistors, bias circuitry, coupling capacitors, and a differential output buffer are all integrated in a miniature SOT23-6 package, making the MAX2605–MAX2609 very easy to use while saving space and cost. The internal varactor’s tuning range is factory-tested so that startup and proper operation over temperature are guaranteed. Depending on operating frequency, these devices draw between 2.1mA and 3.7mA of supply current and achieve between -112dBc/Hz and -107dBc/Hz phase noise (100kHz offset from the carrier).

The MAX2605–MAX2609 come in a 6-pin SOT package and are priced from $0.83 (1000-up, factory, FOB USA).
