Single, Quick-PWM™ Step-Down Controller with Dynamic REFIN in Tiny TDFN Package
Note to Editor:
- The MAX17024 is a single, Quick-PWM step-down controller with dynamic REFIN.
- This device saves board space and increases flexibility by allowing the use of any kind of output capacitor.
- To save space, this controller is packaged in a tiny, 3mm x 3mm, 14-pin TDFN package. It also eliminates the need for compensation if polymers or tantalum caps are used.
- The MAX17024 is ideal for stepping down high voltages in notebook applications.

SUNNYVALE, CA—April 9, 2008—Maxim Integrated Products (Pink Sheets: MXIM) introduces the MAX17024 single, Quick-PWM step-down controller with dynamic REFIN. This device utilizes Maxim's proprietary, constant-on-time, Quick-PWM architecture to support wide input/output voltage ratios and provide excellent transient response, while maintaining a relatively constant switching frequency. Operating from a 0 to 24V input voltage, the MAX17024 can generate any output voltage from 0 to VIN. Additionally, it increases flexibility by allowing the use of any kind of output capacitor; compensation is not required if using polymers or tantalum capacitors. Packaged in a tiny, 3mm x 3mm, 14-pin TDFN package, this controller is ideal for stepping down high voltages in notebook applications.
The MAX17024 features overvoltage, undervoltage, and thermal protection, and it is fully specified over the -40°C to +85°C extended industrial temperature range. Prices start at $2.85 (1000-up, FOB USA).
Maxim Integrated Products, a two billion dollar company, designs and manufactures ICs for analog and mixed-signal applications. The company has designed over 5400 products, more than any other analog semiconductor company, in the 25 years since its founding.
