QUAD VOLTAGE MONITORS REQUIRE NO EXTERNAL COMPONENTS

SUNNYVALE, CA—May 8, 2000—Maxim Integrated Products introduces the MAX6338 quad voltage monitor designed to monitor multivoltage systems in telecommunications, networking equipment, storage devices, high-end printers, and computers. When a monitored voltage falls below the preset thresholds, the corresponding open-drain output asserts an active-low signal to notify the system. The monitor deasserts when the input voltage rises above the threshold.

A variety of different voltage thresholds and tolerances are available for each specific application. Preset voltage thresholds of +5.0V, +3.3V, +3.0V, +2.5V, +1.8V, -5V, and user-adjustable voltages are available to accommodate most of today’s standard logic devices.

The internally trimmed thresholds and weak internal pullups to VCC minimize the need for external components. Voltages of +5.0V, +3.3V, +2.5V, and +1.8V can be monitored without external components. The four independent open-drain outputs can be overdriven by external voltages ranging from 0V to +5.5V to provide easy interfacing to other devices.

The MAX6338 operates from +2.5V to +5.5V, while consuming only 25µA of supply current. This low-power device is fully specified over the extended temperature range and is available in a small 10-pin µMAX package. Prices start from $2.50 (1000-up, FOB USA).
