SUNNYVALE, CA—April 23, 2007—Maxim Integrated Products (NASDAQ: MXIM) introduces the MAX3580 fully integrated, zero-IF (ZIF), direct-conversion TV tuner for digital video broadcasting-terrestrial (DVB-T) applications. By utilizing unique ZIF architecture and integrating an RF-tracking filter, this tuner eliminates external, discrete filtering components and the expensive SAW filter required by older, IF-based tuners, thus enabling the industry's lowest bill-of-materials (BOM) cost. Operating from a single 3.3V supply and consuming a low 650mW of power, the MAX3580 is ideal for USB stick, automotive, and infotainment applications.

The MAX3580 is available in a small, 5mm x 5mm, 32-pin TQFN package with an exposed paddle; it is fully specified to operate over the -40°C to +85°C extended temperature range. Prices start at $5.50 (1000-up, FOB USA). An evaluation kit and reference designs that combine the MAX3580 with OFDM demodulators are available to speed designs.
