HIGH-PERFORMANCE 10-BIT ADC WITH ON-CHIP T/H CONVERTS AT 20Msps

SUNNYVALE, CA—February 29, 2000—Maxim Integrated Products introduces the MAX1425, a 10-bit monolithic bipolar analog-to-digital converter (ADC) with 20Msps digitizing rate.

The MAX1425 is targeted at imaging, high-speed communication, and instrumentation applications where wide bandwidth, good linearity, and high dynamic performance are required. Unlike other high-speed 10-bit ADCs, this device achieves a full 61dB SINAD and 72dB SFDR at 2MHz input frequency. Operating from a single +5V supply, the MAX1425 achieves this high dynamic performance over a ±2V input range through the use of an innovative, fully differential pipeline architecture and an advanced 0.6µm CMOS process.

An integrated, fully differential input track/hold (T/H) amplifier provides wideband dynamic performance with a low 5pF input capacitance and a 150MHz full-power bandwidth. The MAX1425 has an on-chip precision 2.5V bandgap reference that supplies additional reference voltages. This feature allows flexible input range options and automatically ensures the correct DC bias levels for AC-coupled applications.

The MAX1425 operates from a +5V analog supply with a separate digital supply to support 3V to 5V output interfaces. The output data is presented in two's complement format.

The MAX1425 comes in a space-saving 28-pin SSOP package specified for the industrial (-40°C to +85°C) temperature range. It is priced from $3.95 (1000-up, FOB USA). An evaluation kit (MAX1425EVKIT) is available.
