Quad Audio Line Driver Outputs Full Line-Level Signals from a +5V or +3.3V Supply
SUNNYVALE, CA-November 22, 2005-Maxim Integrated Products (NASDAQ: MXIM) introduces the MAX9727, a DirectDrive™, quad, audio line driver that provides a complete line-output solution for consumer audio systems. When operated from a single +5V supply, the MAX9727 outputs 3VRMS signal levels; with a +3.3V supply, the MAX9727 outputs 2VRMS signals. The MAX9727 is ideal for multichannel PC sound cards, set-top boxes, A/V receivers, DVD players, and a variety of portable media players.
Maxim's innovative DirectDrive technology creates an on-chip negative supply, which allows the MAX9727 line driver to output full line-level signals while operating from a single power supply. As an added benefit, the device's output signal is biased at ground. This eliminates the need for DC-blocking capacitors, which improves the low-frequency response, reduces distortion, and saves cost.
Integrated differential inputs improve system noise management. Gain can be precisely controlled by external resistors. The MAX9727 features a high 100dB PSRR, 111dB signal-to-noise ratio, and ultra-low 0.0005% THD+N. Industry leading click-and-pop suppression eliminates audible transients on power and shutdown cycles.
The MAX9727 is available in a small, lead-free, 20-pin QSOP package. Specifications are guaranteed over the extended -40°C to +85°C temperature range. Prices for the MAX9727EEP+ start at $0.79 (1,000-up, FOB USA).
