16-Bit, 600Msps LVDS DAC Delivers Industry-Leading SFDR and IMD Performance at Lowest Power
SUNNYVALE, CA-August 1, 2005-Maxim Integrated Products (NASDAQ: MXIM) introduces the MAX5891, a state-of-the-art, high-performance, 16-bit, 600Msps digital-to-analog converter (DAC). At a 30MHz output frequency, the device offers industry-leading 80dBc performance in spurious-free dynamic range (SFDR) and -94dBc intermodulation distortion (IMD). At a 36MHz output frequency, it offers -163dBFS/Hz noise-spectral density. An LVDS input interface lets the MAX5891 receive data at 600MHz and produce wide bandwidth signals while maintaining low noise and distortion. The MAX5891 achieves this high level of performance while consuming only 298mW at a 600Msps update rate.
This outstanding performance makes the MAX5891 ideal for applications such as broadband multicarrier communications, direct IF synthesis, automated test equipment (ATE), and instrumentation.
The MAX5891 LVDS DAC is specified for the extended-industrial temperature range (-40 degrees Celsius to +85 degrees Celsius) and is available in a space-saving 68-pin QFN-EP package. The part is in full production and an evaluation kit is available to speed designs. Price starts at $34.70 (1000-up, FOB USA).
Pin-compatible 12-bit (MAX5889) and 14-bit (MAX5890) versions are offered for additional design flexibility.
