INDUSTRY'S ONLY SPREAD-SPECTRUM RESISTOR-PROGRAMMABLE OSCILLATOR

DALLAS, TX—May 4, 2004—Dallas Semiconductor (NASDAQ: MXIM) introduces the DS1090 EconOscillator, the industry's only spread-spectrum resistor-programmable oscillator. It offers output frequencies between 125kHz and 8MHz with 3V to 5.5V single-supply operation.

The DS1090 EconOscillator reduces system-level electromagnetic interference (EMI) by dithering the master oscillator frequency to reduce peak spectral energy at the fundamental and harmonic clock frequencies. Through the use of control pins, the user can choose from among dither percentages of 0%, 2%, 4%, and 8%, and dither rates of fMOSC/512, 1024, 2048, and 4096. The DS1090 is ideally suited as an external clock for switched-mode power supplies.

Available in the tiny 8-pin µSOP, the DS1090 operates over the extended temperature range (-40°C to +85°C). Prices start at $0.68 (1000-up, FOB USA).

EconOscillator is a trademark of Dallas Semiconductor.
