High-Speed, 14-Bit, Simultaneous Sampling ADCs Offer ±10V, ±5V, and 0V to 5V Inputs and Smallest Package

(NASDAQ: MXIM) introduces three new families of simultaneous-sampling, analog-to-digital converters (ADCs): the new MAX1316/MAX1317/MAX1318, MAX1320/MAX1321/MAX1322, and MAX1324/MAX1325/MAX1326. These new 14-bit ADCs feature 0V to 5, ±5, and ±10V analog inputs. The 0V to 5V versions (MAX1316/MAX1317/MAX1318) provide ±6V overvoltage fault protection, while the MAX1324/MAX1325/ ±5 and ±10V devices (the MAX1320/MAX1321/MAX1322 and MAX1326, respectively) provide ±16.5V overvoltage fault protection.
These new ADC families have excellent dynamic performance (SFDR = 93dBc, SINAD = 76dB) and DC accuracy (±2 LSB INL, ±1 LSB DNL). Packaged in a 7mm x 7mm, 48-pin TQFP, these ICs are the smallest ADCs in their class. Compared to competitive 4-channel simultaneously-sampling ADCs and even MAXIM's® previous 4-channel simultaneously-sampling versions, the MAX1316/MAX1320/MAX1324 sample up to eight channels simultaneously. All the new ADCs offer bipolar inputs without negative supply requirements, and give a 2.5x improvement in sampling rate while reducing the footprint by 2.3x.
The devices are available in 8-channel (MAX1316/MAX1320/MAX1324),
4-channel (MAX1317/MAX1321/MAX1325), and 2-channel (MAX1318/MAX1322/
MAX1326) versions. These ADCs integrate a high-speed 15MHz parallel interface, internal 2.5V reference, and an internal or external conversion clock. The MAX1316MAX1326 family converts two channels in 2µs or eight channels in 3.8µs, and has an 8-channel throughput of 263ksps per channel. These devices accept bipolar or unipolar inputs while operating from a 5V analog and 2.7V to 5.25V digital supply. A first-in/first-out (FIFO) reduces interface overhead and allows conversion results to be read at the end of the conversion sequence or between conversions.
The devices operate over the extended (-40°C to +85°C) temperature range. Prices start at $10.75 (1000-up, FOB USA)
