Current-Limiting Switches

Maxim's current-limiting switches supply fully-protected power to one or more USB outputs. They meet or surpass USB specifications. Most devices feature "auto-reset" which latches the switch off in the event of a short circuit to save system power, automatically reactivating when the short is removed. Other safety features include thermal-overload protection, accurate current-limiting circuitry, and fault signals to notify the system when a fault occurs. False alarms are suppressed by blanking that ignores momentary faults, such as those caused when hot-swapping a capacitive load.
