LDO

Challenges: Tolerant to car battery voltage fluctuations and load dump requirements. Typically used to power Audio and other noise-sensitive applications. Some application require operation through cold crank. Consider stepping down with a DC/DC first to decrease heat losses significantly. Note some linear regulators include supervisory functions and vice versa.
