The DS229 contains three drivers and three receivers for transmission between T1 and RS232 interfaces. The two-stage on-board charge pump circuit generates ±10 volts needed for RS-232 from a single +5-volt supply. Operating with small 0.1µF capacitors, the DS229 does not require external ±12-volt supplies.

The DS229 is fully compliant with EIA RS-232E and V.28/V.24 standards. Driver slew rates and data rates are guaranteed up to 116kbits/sec.

Applications are designs requiring efficient, low-power connectivity between T1 lines and equipment with RS-232 connections.
