The OneWireViewer can be installed as a Java™ Web Start program on operating systems supported by Java.
A software driver is required to give Java access to the 1-Wire serial adapter mentioned above. For non-Win32 platforms with serial ports, the open-source RXTX serial-communications API fulfills this requirement for the OneWireViewer. See the table below. If your platform is not listed, please look for (or compile from source) a version for your platform at
www.rxtx.org. Install RXTX by simply copying
rxtxSerial.dll into your
/bin folder, and copying RXTXcomm.jar into your /lib/ext folder.
If clicking on the
OneWireViewer JNLP file fails to start the application, click on the URL and save the file to your desktop. Then double-click on the file to launch the program.
The OneWireViewer can also be run from the Java Control Panel Applet, specifically by clicking on the "View" button next to the "Temporary Internet Files" section of the "General" tab. This will bring up the Java Cache Viewer from which you can run the OneWireViewer.
Additionally, the OneWireViewer application has a built-in message log, which will display any 'normal' exceptions like those generated by intermediate contact or some lack of 1-Wire adapter features. This message log is available under
View, then
Message Log after you start the OneWireViewer.
