About Spread-Spectrum Oscillators

About Spread-Spectrum Oscillators
Spread-spectrum oscillators reduce spectral EMI (electromagnetic interference) emissions, allowing products to pass FCC and other regulatory tests. They "dither" the clock frequency in a narrow range around the desired clock rate, producing a wider spectrum with spectral lines which have lower energy per Hz, as compared to a conventional single tone.
