Industry's Best Jitter Performance
Maxim achieves the industry's best jitter performance using a high-performance SiGe BiCMOS process technology, developed by Maxim's own process engineers. Key features of our process technology include:
- SiGe HBT (heterojunction bipolar transistor) with very low 1/f noise
- Integrated varactor
- High-Q inductor

Our proprietary process technology enables Maxim designers to develop LC VCOs with substantially lower jitter than ring oscillators. Our PLL and XO design expertise allows us to achieve excellent power-supply noise rejection (PSNR).
Maxim pioneered the improvement in jitter and power-supply noise rejection, which is required for high-speed interfaces such as 10 Gigabit Ethernet and 8.5Gbps Fibre Channel. Our jitter is 2–3x better than our best-known competitor and our PSNR is more than 20dB better.
