Glossary Term: Signal Conditioner 

Definition

A device placed between a signal source and a readout instrument to change the signal. Examples are attenuators, preamplifiers, charge amplifiers, and sophisticated level-translating devices that can compensate for non-linearities in the sensor or amplifier.
