Clock Generator Is Optimized for xDSL CO Linecards and Telecom Systems Requiring Low-Jitter Clock Outputs

SUNNYVALE, CA-February 22, 2005-Maxim Integrated Products (NASDAQ: MXIM) introduces the MAX9476, a cost-effective, low-jitter, high-performance clock generator with an 8kHz reference-clock input, making it an ideal timing solution for ADSL/VDSL central-office (CO) linecards, T1/E1, T3/E3, and telecom network systems.

The MAX9476 uses a 35.328MHz crystal and an 8kHz input reference clock to generate six identical, buffered LVTTL outputs at 35.328MHz, which are all synchronized with the 8kHz input clock. The device has an integrated VCXO and can track the input reference by ±100ppm. The MAX9476 also provides a low-jitter 8kHz clock output that is used as a reference clock for other parts of the system. This clock generator can automatically detect the absence of the 8kHz reference and lock the output CLK to 35.328MHz with an accuracy of ±25ppm.

The MAX9476 is available in a 24-pin TSSOP package. The device operates from a single supply over the extended temperature range (-40°C to +85°C). Prices start at $6.14 (1000-up, FOB USA).
