DUAL, 10-BIT, 300Msps DAC FEATURES DIGITAL INTERPOLATION FILTERS

SUNNYVALE, CA-August 4, 2003-Maxim Integrated Products (NASDAQ: MXIM) introduces the MAX5858, a dual, 10-bit, 300Msps DAC with integrated digital interpolation filters. This device integrates two, 10-bit DAC cores, 2x/4x programmable digital interpolation filters, divide-by-N clock output, and an internal reference. The MAX5858 also features digital control of channel gain matching to within ±0.4dB in sixteen 0.05dB steps.

Specified over the 2.7V to 3.3V operating range and an extended output compliance voltage, the MAX5858 delivers outstanding dynamic performance. At a 20MHz output frequency (165MHz sample rate), the spurious-free dynamic range (SFDR) is 75dBc. The adjacent channel leakage ratio (ACLR) is 69dBc when the output frequency is 30.7MHz (3.8MHz channel).

The integrated interpolation filters, which separate the generated images, make the analog filter following the DAC cost effective and easy to design. In addition, the interpolation filters lower the input data rate and reduce the inherent DAC roll off.

The combination of excellent performance and on-board interpolation filters makes the MAX5858 ideal for communication systems such as point-to-point microwave links, LMDS, MMDS, WLAN base stations, and VSAT terminals.

The MAX5858 is the lead product in a family of high-performance DACs. The MAX5858 is available in a space-saving, 48-pin TQFP package specified for the industrial temperature range (-40°C to +85°C). Prices start at $11.80 (1000-up, FOB USA). An evaluation kit is available to speed designs.
