INDUSTRY'S FIRST 2.0GHz "ANYTHING"-TO-LVPECL/LVDS DIVIDE-BY-FOUR TRANSLATORS

SUNNYVALE, CA-May 22, 2003-Maxim Integrated Products (NASDAQ: MXIM) introduces the MAX9377/MAX9378 single-channel, "Anything"-to-LVPECL/LVDS translators with selectable divide-by-4. The "Anything"-input configuration accepts LVPECL, LVDS, CML, and HSTL differential signals and translates them to LVPECL (MAX9377) and LVDS output (MAX9378*). The LVDS output conforms to the ANSI TIA/EIA-644 LVDS standard. The divide-by-four output is controlled by two LVCMOS/ LVTTL inputs.

Low 2.0ps(RMS) jitter and low 30ps (max) pulse skew make the MAX9377/MAX9378 ideal for clock and data distribution in central office switches, networking switches and routers, and SONET/SDH communications where signal and clock integrity is critical. The MAX9377/MAX9378 are specified to operate at a minimum of 2.0GHz fMAX at >250mV differential output level.

The MAX9377/MAX9378 operate with a +3.3V ±10% supply and are specified over the extended temperature range (-40°C to +85°C). Both devices are packaged in an 8-pin µMAX. Refer to MAX9377/ MAX9378 data sheet for package outline. Prices start at $4.95 (1000-up, FOB USA).

*Future product—contact factory for availability.
