2-WIRE RTC WITH TWO TIME-OF-DAY ALARMS

DALLAS, TX-July 23, 2002-Dallas Semiconductor introduces the DS1339 serial real-time clock, a low-power clock/calendar with two programmable time-of-day alarms and a programmable square-wave output. It also has dual power pins for primary and backup power supplies, and includes a programmable trickle charger. Address and data are transferred serially by a 2-wire serial bus.

The clock/calendar provides seconds, minutes, hours, day, date, month, and year information. The date at the end of the month is automatically adjusted for months with fewer than 31 days, including corrections for leap year. The clock operates in either the 24-hour or 12-hour format with AM/PM indicator.

The oscillator runs down to 1.3V. Its small size and low-voltage operation make it ideal for portable and battery-powered systems.

The DS1339 operates over the industrial temperature range (-40°C to +85°C) and is available in an 8-pin µSOP package. Prices start at $1.12 (1000-up, FOB USA).
