CABLE MODEM UPSTREAM AMP DELIVERS 64dBmV FROM 5V SUPPLY
SUNNYVALE, CA-June 13, 2002-Maxim Integrated Products introduces the MAX3505 high output power, cable upstream amplifier, the only 5V upstream amplifier to guarantee DOCSIS™ and EuroDOCSIS™ performance at 64dBmV output power into 75Ω. Second- and third-harmonic distortion performance is typically -55dBc when driving this output level. When combined with a modulator IC and an output transformer, the MAX3505 includes all power-down modes necessary to complete a cable upstream transmit solution.
The MAX3505 maintains excellent linearity when driving high-output voltage swings required in cable telephony applications for both circuit-switched and voice-over internet protocols. Conversely, when driven at lower output levels, the MAX3505 achieves superior linearity for digital set-top box applications such as OpenCable™, where interference with sensitive television signals is an issue.
The MAX3505 is available in a 5mm x 5mm 20-pin QFN package and operates from a single 5V supply over the -40°C to +85°C temperature range. Prices start at $1.98 (10,000-up, FOB US). Evaluation kits are available.
