INTEGRATED, NONVOLATILE, TRI-POTENTIOMETER, MEMORY, AND MICROMONITOR IC REDUCES SIZE AND COST OF EMBEDDED SYSTEMS

DALLAS, TX-April 19, 2002-Dallas Semiconductor introduces the DS1846 nonvolatile (NV) tri-potentiometer, memory, and MicroMonitor. The DS1846 is a highly integrated chip that combines three linear-taper potentiometers, 256 bytes of EEPROM memory, and a MicroMonitor. The part communicates over the industry-standard 2-wire interface and is available in a 20-pin TSSOP.

The DS1846 is optimized for use in a variety of embedded systems where microprocessor supervisory, NV storage, and control of analog functions are required. Common applications include gigabit transceiver modules, portable instrumentation, PDAs, cell phones, and a variety of personal multimedia products.

Like other members of the potentiometer family, the DS1846 can be used in a variety of applications in the computer, telecom, and industrial markets. Any design that uses digital-to-analog converters, potentiometers, serial EEPROM, and a MicroMonitor can benefit.

The DS1846 is available in both a space-saving 20-pin TSSOP package (173mils) and a 20-pin TSSOP tape-and-reel version. It operates from a single 5V power supply over a -40°C to +85°C temperature range. Prices start at $2.43 (1000-up, FOB USA).
