2.7Gbps MUX/BUFFER SIMPLIFIES REDUNDANCY

SUNNYVALE, CA-November 29, 2001-Maxim Integrated Products introduces the MAX3783 dual 2:1 mux/1:2 fanout buffer with selectable loopback. This single IC handles signal redundancy and fail-over switching applications in SDH/SONET, Fibre Channel, and 2x Gigabit Ethernet systems while saving board space.

Each half of the dual part provides both a 1:2 buffer to create duplicate output data paths and a 2:1 mux to select from two alternate input data paths. Selectable loopback facilitates diagnostic testing. Data integrity is preserved by outputs that have only 11ps deterministic jitter. Signal output levels are typically 1600mV for inputs as low as 200mV. The MAX3783 operates with a +3.3V power supply and has a power-down mode to disable unused buffer outputs.

The MAX3783 dual mux/buffer comes in a compact 48-pin TQFP package and has on-chip terminations at all ports compatible with 50Ω transmission lines. Prices start at $6.49 (1000-up, FOB USA).
