±15kV ESD-PROTECTED, 1520VRMS Isolated RS-485/RS-422 TRANSCEIVERS
SUNNYVALE, CA-November 6, 2001-Maxim Integrated Products introduces the MAX1480E/MAX1490E/MAX3480E family of ±15kV ESD-protected, isolated RS-485/RS-422 transceivers. These devices withstand ESD events up to ± 15kV and are guaranteed to provide 1520VRMS isolation, making them ideal for noisy environments such as large networks and automated test equipment. The MAX1480E/MAX1490E/MAX3480E incorporate RS-485/RS-422 transceivers, optocouplers, and a transformer in a standard DIP package to provide an isolation barrier between the cable and the equipment.
The MAX1480E and MAX1490E operate from a single +5.0V supply and the MAX3480E operates from a +3.3V supply. The MAX1480EC/MAX1490EB/ MAX3480EB are slew rate limited to minimize EMI emissions and reduce reflections caused by improperly terminated cables. These devices operate at data rates up to 250kbps. The MAX1480EA/MAX1490EA/MAX3480EA do not feature slew rate limiting and can operate at data rates up to 2.5Mbps. The MAX1480E and MAX3480E provide half-duplex communication, while the MAX1490E supports full-duplex operation.
