QUAD LVDS LINE RECEIVER WITH FLOW-THROUGH PINOUT AND INTEGRATED TERMINATION

SUNNYVALE, CA-October 8, 2001-Maxim Integrated Products introduces the MAX9121 and MAX9122 quad low-voltage differential signaling (LVDS) line receivers with flow-through pinout. Each device accepts four LVDS input signals conforming to the ANSI TIA/EIA-644 LVDS standard, and translates them to low-voltage LVTTL/LVCMOS output levels. The MAX9122 features integrated termination, which cuts component count and saves board space by eliminating the need for four external resistors. Both products are ideal for applications requiring high data rates, low power, and low noise, such as digital copiers, laser printers, cell phone basestations, telecom switches, and network switches/routers. Flow-through pinout simplifies PC board layout and reduces crosstalk by separating the inputs and outputs.

Two LVTTL/LVCMOS inputs, EN and EN, can be used to set all four outputs to a high-impedance state and reduce power consumption to only 30mW (typ). The enables are common to all four transmitters. The MAX9121 and MAX9122 operate from a single +3.3V supply, and are specified for operation from –40° C to +85° C. They are available in 16-pin TSSOP and SOIC packages, and are pin-compatible to the National Semiconductor DS90LV048. Prices for the MAX9121 start at $2.05 (1000 up, FOB USA). Prices for the MAX9122 start at $2.15 (1000 up, FOB USA).
