INDUSTRY'S SMALLEST DUAL, CURRENT-LIMITED SWITCH WITH FAULT BLANKING
SUNNYVALE, CA-September 27, 2001-Maxim Integrated Products introduces the MAX1812, the industry’s smallest dual, current-limited switch with fault blanking made for USB applications. Each channel is guaranteed to supply 500mA and meets all USB specifications. Internal fault blanking prevents momentary faults (from capacitive loads) from resetting the host system and eliminates the need for external components. The 20ms blanking time eliminates the need for 4 external components.
The MAX1812 contains two current-limited switches that fit into a tiny 10-pin µMAX package. Each switch has independent thermal protection that prevents the over-stressed channel from being damaged. Since the thermal monitoring for each switch is autonomous, only the faulty channel will be shut down, allowing the channel without the fault condition to operate normally. In addition, each switch can be shut down with a separate shutdown pin. A low 45µA quiescent current and 3µA shutdown current help conserve battery life in portable systems.
The MAX1812 is screened for the extended-industrial temperature range (-40°C to +85°C). Prices start at $1.03 (1000-up, FOB USA).
