±1°C ACCURATE DIGITAL TEMPERATURE SENSORS OPERATE UP TO +150°C

SUNNYVALE, CA-September 6, 2001-Maxim Integrated Products introduces the MAX6633, MAX6634, and MAX6635 digital temperature sensors. Housed in tiny 8-pin SO packages, each device measures temperature accurately to ±1°C from 0°C to +70°C, ±1.5°C from -20° to +85°, ±2.5°C from -40°C to +125°C, and ±2.5°C (typ) at +150°C. They have an internal 12-bit plus sign analog-to-digital converter providing 0.0625°C resolution.

The MAX6633/MAX6634/MAX6635 perform a temperature conversion every 0.5 seconds. Temperature data from the most recent completed conversion is available over the SMBus/I2C-compatible bus interface and can be read at any time. The SMBus/I2C-compatible interface operates at speeds up to 100kHz.

Because of its three address pins, up to sixteen MAX6633 devices can be connected to the same bus interface. The MAX6634 and MAX6635 have eight and four different addresses, respectively.

When a temperature measurement falls outside of the user-programmed high- and low-limit thresholds, the MAX6634 and MAX6635 generate an interrupt/comparator output on the open-drain ALERT pin. On the MAX6635, there is an additional OVERT comparator output, also equipped with programmable thresholds, that can be used for functions such as shutting down the system when temperature exceeds safe operating levels.

The MAX6633/MAX6634/MAX6635 operate with a supply voltage between 3.0V and 5.5V and an average supply current of 150µA (typ).

Prices for the MAX6633 start at $1.28, MAX6634 $1.33, and MAX6635 at $1.37 (1000-up, FOB USA).
