TINY RAIL-TO-RAIL OP AMP WITH SHUTDOWN PACKED IN A TINY SC70

SUNNYVALE, CA-May 14, 2001-Maxim Integrated Products introduces a new series of low-cost Rail-to-Rai® op amps with shutdown features. The MAX4245/MAX4246/MAX4247 amps offer Rail-to-Rail® inputs and output, low-supply current (320µA), and single-supply voltage operation. The MAX4245 single and MAX4247 dual, offer a shutdown mode, further reducing the supply current to 50nA. Additionally, the MAX4245 family can drive 2kΩ loads and is unity-gain stable with capacitive loads up to 400pF. The MAX4245 combines low power and rail-to-rail performance in a tiny 6-pin SC70 package. This is a 50% size reduction over the competing SOT offerings. These new op amps provide a new level of performance with greater ease of use targeting applications such as wireless handsets, notebook PCs, and PDAs where small size and low power are critical.

The op amp series operates from a +2.5V to +5V voltage range. The AC specs feature a 0.4V/µs slew rate, 1MHz unity-gain bandwidth, and a 0.01% THD. The single MAX4245 also comes in a 6-pin SOT23 package, while the dual MAX4246 (no shutdown) and the MAX4247 (shutdown) come in the space-saving 8-pin SOT23 and the 10-pin µMAX packages, respectively. The devices are also guaranteed over a wider -40°C to +125°C temperature range making them a robust solution for automotive applications. Prices for the MAX4245 start at $0.46 (1000-up, FOB USA).
