SMALLEST 5th-ORDER FILTER HAS LOWEST POWER

SUNNYVALE, CA—May 22, 2000—Maxim Integrated Products introduces the MAX7426/MAX7427 5th-order switched-capacitor low-pass elliptic filters. They are available in 8-pin µMAX and DIP packages. The proprietary µMAX package is 80% smaller than an 8-pin DIP package, resulting in the industry’s smallest 5th-order switched-capacitor filters. These filters operate from a single supply of +5V (MAX7426) or +3V (MAX7427), while consuming only 0.8mA. During shutdown, quiescent current drops to 0.2µA. The low cost, small size, and low power of the MAX7426/MAX7427 make them ideal for cost-sensitive portable equipment requiring post-DAC filtering or anti-aliasing.

The MAX7426/MAX7427 provide a sharp rolloff with a transition ratio of 1.25, while still providing 37dB of stopband rejection. Corner frequencies are clock-tunable from 1Hz to 9kHz on the MAX7426 and 1Hz to 12kHz on the MAX7427. Two clocking options are available: self-clocking (by means of an external capacitor) or external clocking for tighter cutoff-frequency control. The output offset (typically 4mV) can be nullified with the offset adjust pin, which can also be used for DC level shifting of the output.

Specified for the commercial (0°C to +70°C) and extended-industrial (-40°C to +85°C) temperature ranges, prices for the MAX7426/MAX7427 start at $0.70 (100,000-up, FOB USA).
